LEGO × NYRR

The Challenge
Demand made the road to the marathon feel increasingly competitive.
NYRR qualifying races were filling quickly, leaving members unable to register. The campaign reframed that tension: the marathon can remain an incredible achievement, while another kind of running experience can exist purely for joy.

The Audience
Nostalgia meets a renewed focus on health.
The target was millennials ages 30–45: an audience with a nostalgic relationship to LEGO and a growing interest in movement and wellness. The partnership connects LEGO’s tactile, playful world with NYRR’s culture of motion and inclusivity.

The Idea
LEGO RUN — a low-stakes race where nobody places and everybody builds the prize.
Participants can run alone or in teams through a short race/obstacle course. There are no place winners. At the finish, every runner receives a LEGO kit to build their own medal—turning achievement back into play.

Earned + Social
Build the story where running, LEGO and culture already overlap.
The plan pairs creator voices from LEGO and running communities with earned outreach spanning running, culture, entertainment and New York media.
